4.3BSD Virtual Memory Management

General

This paper discusses the virtual memory management system of 4.3BSD. After it deals with the underlying VAX instruction set architecture, some characteristics of the virtual memory implementation in 4.3BSD are outlined. Especially we take a look to elements of the system, that can be found in today's Unix-like systems (for instance the page-replacement policy Two-Handed Clock).

This work was my homework for the pro-seminar OS Internals at KIT in summer term 2010.
